Legal Executive/Secretary

This Waikato-based law firm, situated between Hamilton and Cambridge, has an opportunity for a Legal Executive/Legal Secretary to join their growing team in early 2026.

The firm’s work spans property, employment, dispute resolution, relationship property, and succession planning so there’s no shortage of variety. You will be working closely with two partners in a supportive, collaborative environment.

About the job
Working closely with the partners, you will play a key role in ensuring matters progress smoothly and clients receive outstanding service. From day one you will be a trusted and essential person in this diverse role.

  • Managing property and conveyancing files from start to finish
  • Drafting and formatting legal documents and correspondence
  • Liaising with clients, court registrars, and other professionals
  • Assisting with billing, AML compliance, and database management
  • Providing day-to-day support to the partners and wider team

About you
You will be the type of person who thrives on professionalism, accuracy and getting things done. With a solid grounding in legal processes, you are confident in managing files, communicating with clients, and supporting a small team with efficiency and good humour.

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a Legal Executive/ Secretary role
  • An NZ Legal Executive Diploma (preferred)
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence using legal software (LEAP experience an advantage)
  • A positive, can-do attitude and an ability to work both independently and as part of a team
